Card processing fees
A processing fee has three or four parts, not one. Interchange goes to the card issuer, scheme fees go to Visa or Mastercard, the margin goes to the processor, and sometimes there is a fixed fee per transaction. At RONPAY you see each of them separately: real interchange, scheme fees, a margin from 0.55% and 0.05 EUR per transaction.
The calculation on a 100 EUR payment
| Card | Interchange | RONPAY margin | Fixed fee | Total, before scheme fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Consumer debit, issued in the EEA | 0.20 EUR | 0.55 EUR | 0.05 EUR | 0.80 EUR |
| Consumer credit, issued in the EEA | 0.30 EUR | 0.55 EUR | 0.05 EUR | 0.90 EUR |
| Flat market rate, 1.5% | included in the percentage | 1.50 EUR + the offer's fixed fee | ||
Scheme fees are added to every transaction and depend on the network and card type. They are small, but we do not hide them: they appear on your invoice, line by line.
Where IC++ does not come out cheaper
On business, premium and non-EEA cards, interchange is much higher, from about 0.70% to over 2%. If you sell mainly to companies or to customers outside Europe, a flat rate can come out comparable.
The fixed fee matters less here than with many providers: 0.05 EUR is 1% of a 5 EUR payment and 0.1% of a 50 EUR one. If you sell very low-value items, ask us for a simulation on your own volume.
What you do not pay at RONPAY
No monthly fee, no gateway fee and no monthly minimum. Processing is invoiced intra-community by Rox Pay S.p.A., separately for each merchant. The full interchange grid, by card type, is on Pricing.
