Stripe is an excellent platform for developers and one of the most used payment providers in Europe. Its standard published price for European Economic Area cards is 1.5% + 0.25 EUR per transaction. RONPAY works on IC++: the card's real interchange, scheme fees, a margin from 0.55% and 0.05 EUR per transaction.

Why the fixed fee matters

Stripe's fixed fee is 0.25 EUR; RONPAY's is 0.05 EUR. On a 20 EUR order, Stripe's fixed fee alone is 1.25%. If you sell many low-value items, the difference shows at the end of the month more than the percentage does.

When Stripe may be the right choice

If you sell in many countries and currencies, if you build your product on the Stripe API or if you need their billing and subscription tools at large scale. Stripe has excellent documentation and a huge integration ecosystem.

Is RONPAY cheaper than Stripe?

On standard European cards, yes: a 100 EUR payment with a European consumer debit card costs 0.80 EUR plus scheme fees at RONPAY, compared with 1.75 EUR at Stripe's standard price. Stripe also offers IC+ pricing, but only on custom packages.

Can I move my subscriptions from Stripe to RONPAY?

Yes, if Stripe exports your card data securely, in line with PCI DSS. Stripe accepts such exports to another certified processor on request. That way your subscriptions move without asking customers for their card again. Details on Recurring payments.

Does RONPAY have an API like Stripe?

Yes. There is a REST API with a test environment and public documentation, plus plugins for WooCommerce, Magento and PrestaShop.
